In a significant update to its search engine, Google has introduced a new “AI Mode” as part of its ongoing efforts to revolutionize how users access information online. Announced at the company’s annual developers conference, the new feature marks the latest step in Google’s year-long transformation, aiming to change the way people interact with search results and further consolidate the flow of online traffic.
The “AI Mode” is now available to all users in the United States, just two and a half months after a limited testing phase with a select audience in the Labs division. This new feature allows users to engage with Google’s search engine in a more conversational manner, as if they were consulting an expert capable of answering a broad range of questions.
In addition to AI Mode, Google has integrated its latest AI model, Gemini 2.5, into its search algorithms, enhancing the engine’s ability to deliver more accurate and contextually relevant results. The company also plans to roll out additional AI-driven features, including the ability to purchase concert tickets automatically and conduct searches using live video feeds.
Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to AI innovation, Google also unveiled plans to re-enter the smart glasses market. The company previewed a new pair of Android XR-powered glasses, which will feature a hands-free camera and voice-activated AI assistant. This marks a comeback for Google in the smart glasses space, more than a decade after the launch of Google Glass, a product that was discontinued following privacy concerns and public backlash.
With these advancements, Google is positioning itself as a leader in the AI-powered future of information retrieval, continuing to redefine the digital experience for millions of users worldwide.
